Pennard Castle, Gower

Looking up to Pennard Castle from the bay at Three Cliffs, the sky had a stormy sense of anticipation as the light illuminated the castle which had a stunning silhouette on the hilltop. The sandy path leading up to the castle ruins stood out against the backdrop of the wooded area with the marsh in the foreground creating a very different texture.

I used mixed media to capture this scene and built up several layers to give the painting a sense of depth.
