“Rising Ride” - Three Cliffs Bay, Gower

The original painting was created using mixed media and collage on marine plywood. I’ve attempted to capture the wonderful wide panoramic views you can experience at Three Cliff Bay in Gower, South Wales. On this day an immense spring tide was racing inland, creating an exciting movement and energy in the landscape. I worked in layers on this piece, building up texture and using a variety of mark making tools to emulate that sense of energy and movement. I also used a range of collage, most of which I painted over to give interest and texture - however, I did leave a piece of collage still visible - this was a piece of an ordnance survey map of Three Cliffs Bay itself. I have blended this piece into the painting to add further interest - see if you can spot it!
