Tuag Adref (Homewards) captures that still, transformative hour at dusk when the day’s warmth retreats and the light softens across the tidal reaches of the estuary. The low evening sky softens into quiet, atmospheric tones, casting cool silvers, deep indigos, and warm earth hues across the water.
Overhead and across the sea flats, birds move against the falling twilight. Their flight carries a quiet, timeless purpose: instinctive movements answering an ancient rhythm, turning back to roost as the estuary settles into evening silence.
Translating from Welsh as “Towards Home,” the painting explores the pull of familiar shores, a deep sense of belonging, and the restorative feeling of arrival as the day draws to a close.
