A Small Study a Day’ - Days 4 - 7

Continuing with my painting challenge here’s the studies that I did on days 4 to 7.

Day 4

I’ve gone more inland for this one, inspired by the moorland on central Gower. I’ve used perylene violet and mixed blue grey to create a moody feel to the sky. I used soft pastel to give some highlights.

Day 5

This is Bracelet Bay, Mumbles in Gower, just as a storm was approaching. I spent a bit more time on this one. I used gesso to create some texture and then built up several layers using a limited palette.

Day 6

Having the freedom to play!

I’ve moved more towards the abstract with this study. My main aim was to give it lots of energy and movement, and to loosen up after yesterdays more controlled study.

Day 7

Having a go at some distant hills, trying out some colours and a loose, expressive style.
